Here is my project I would like to share with you~

I used the digi image Believe in Tomorrow by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff. You can find her at HERE. I absolutely adore this image as the detail in it is just amazing. I colored her using copic markers. It was quite a task for me but I am totally happy with the results.

I used K&CO designer paper called Sparkly Sweet. I distressed the edges of the card using Tsuikineko's Brillance Pearlescent Sky Blue ink. I embellished with paper flowers, a pink rhinestone, stickles on the wings of the fairy & butterfly. The final touch was adding the two beaded stick pins and a lime green grosgrain ribbon bow.

WEEKEND GETAWAY~

Hello Friends!!!

I was away this past weekend with my two best friends. We went to my friend Iris's cabin and got to craft all weekend long. I made a bunch of cards. It was soooo relaxing to just hang out in our pjs and craft.

Here are a few of the cards I created:

I created this card using La Sylphide digi image by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff. I colored the image using copic markers. The background papers I used are from a gift pack I got with a magazine purchase. I added stickles, mulberry paper flowers, 3 dimensional word stickers, and one of my handmade beaded stick pins.

This card is now available in my ETSY SHOP.

This card I created using the sweet image of Isabella with Puppy Cocco by Sarah Kay. I also colored the image using copic markers. The background papers I used are from K&CO. I added mulberry paper flowers, stickles, rhinestones, and a vintage scallop lace trim distressed in a apricot colored ink.

Here is the last card I would like to share with you~

This card I created using the Country Girl digi image by Morgan Fitzsimons. Isn't she adorable? I love the color scheme I used. Lots of pinks, blues, and yellows. I colored the image with copic markers. The papers are from a stash of scrapbook papers I had tucked away in a storage container. I thought it went really well with this image. I added some vintage lace trim and distressed it with some blue chalk ink and then tied an organza ribbon bow.

TIME FOR TEA~LIL SWEETIE TEA PARTY~

Happy Thursday to all of you!!! I hope all of you are enjoying your day. Today I want to share with you a card I created using Lil Sweetie Tea Party by Sherri Baldy. You can find her HERE. She is just simply darling!!!

I colored this image using copic markers.

I embellished the card with designer paper from Fancypants called Simplicity. It has beautiful light pink roses and a touch of light green on the leaves. I used a light pink ruffle trim from my stash, a pink organza ribbon bow, WOC and Recollection mulberry paper flowers, leaves I punched with a Martha Stewart punch, as well as using the MS's doily lace punch for the border. Lastly, I added two of my handmade beaded stick pins, stickles, and a pink bow applique.

A LIL ROSE IN YOUR DAY~

Hello Friends!!!

WOW!!! Time has seriously been flying by way too fast!!! I need to really get hustling with all these things I want to do for Valentines. I don't actually celebrate Valentines but I do like all the things that revolve around this day of love. Hubs & I usually will go out to a nice dinner and just enjoy spending time together.

I love all the pretty and cute things that are filling up the store shelves. Especially all the decorations in pink, red and white. I usually will load up on all the rubber stamps, papers, ribbons, etc that I find.

Today I want to share with you a card I created for Scrapbook Stamp Society (Addicted to Stamps) using Lil Rose digi image by Sherri Baldy.

Onto the pics~

I colored the image with the following Copic Markers:

I used the K&Co.The Painted Garden Specialty paper, purple cardstock, Neenah 80lb cardstock, and Spellbinders Nestabilities Curved Rectangle dies.

I embellished the card with WOC and Recollection mulberry flowers, a lavender bow ribbon, a handmade beaded stick pin, diamond stickles, and flat back pearls. I also distressed the edges using Tim Holtz Dusty Concord distressing ink.

CUTE AS A LADY BUG~FOR YA!

Hello Friends!!!

Today I want to share my DT project for Scrapbook Stamp Society. I used the Cute as a Lady Bug digi image by Heather Valentin which can be found HERE.

I think this image is super cute and versatile for all sorts of cards (Birthday, Valentines day, Spring/Summer celebration, etc). She is soooo stinkin' cute!!

I decided to create a wall hanging as I was still thinking of the Hearts & Flowers theme. Here are the pics~

I covered a piece of medium weight chipboard with the Valentine Theme designer paper from K&CO. I added a red foam heart, vintage rose lace, hot pink lace trim, a dark pink organza ribbon, my handmade beaded stick pins, misc. paper flowers (Recollections and Wild Orchid Crafts), stickles, a pink puffy applique heart, and flatback pearls.

I colored the image using copic markers and added some sparkle with stickles as well as glossy accents. I wanted to add lots of fun colors when I created her. Of course I had to add some lovely pink in there. LOL!!!

WILA B. MINE LIL GOTHIE~

Hello Friends!!!

Today I want to share a project I created for another fantastic blog challenge over at Scrapbook Stamp Society Challenge Blog. The theme is "Hearts & Flowers." They are both things I love to work with.

I used Wila B. Mine Lil Gothie Digi image by Heather Valentin. You can find the image HERE. She is super duper cute!!!! When I first saw this image I just knew I had to have her.

Here is a treat box I created:

I used copic markers to color the image. I also decided to try adding some accents to the image with the Sakura gelly roll pens, glossy accents, and of course lots of stickles. I used designer cardstock paper from Recollections which I purchased at Michaels. I am so in love with the way this project turned out as I'm always experimenting with different mediums.

I embellished the treat box with lots of flowers (Recollection, Prima, WOC, and Iamroses). I also added some of the foam hearts which I had in my stash. I believe I bought them at Michaels.

LUNCH BAG UPCYCLE FOR YPP~

Hello Friends!!!

Here is a lunch bag upcycle swap I created for Your Paper Pantry. The theme for January is Romance. I used a standard size brown paper bag.

I first decoupaged these pretty rose cupcake liner papers on the entire front of the bag. Added some barn red distressing ink to the bag with a make up sponge. The image I created with photoshop by adding layers to create this collage effect. The bag is embellished with a beautiful vintage white rose lace and a dark pink sequin trim. I added a mini pink rose to the corner of the trim. I stamped the word "Sweet," with a stamp I purchased at Michaels.

The back of the bag I made a pocket with the same vintage white rose lace and added this delicate white lace trim. Inside the pocket is a mat that can be used to add a photo or a journal entry.

SCRAPBOOK STAMP SOCIETY PINK CHALLENGE~

Hello Friends!!!

I am posting my design team project for the Scrapbook Stamp Society Pretty in Pink Challenge. My favorite color is pink so how can I not join this challenge. *SMILE*

I decided to alter a cigar box. I have always wanted to alter one so this was my chance to create one.

I used the Marie Let them eat Cupcake digi stamp by Sherri Baldy.

I covered the cigar box with K&CO Valentine Specialty paper. I colored Marie with copic markers (B00, C1, E00, E13, E57, R20, R29, RV10, RV11, RV13, RV14, RV17, RV63, YG13, Y06). I distress the edges of the box with Apple Barrel's magenta acrylic paint and Daler Rowney's FW Pearlescent liquid acrylic in Platinum Pink. The embellishments are Wild Orchid Crafts paper flowers, misc. mini paper roses, stickles, rhinestones, Maya mist (doesn't say color on bottle *SIGH*) vintage scallop lace trim, and one of my handmade beaded stick pins with butterfly charm.

Here is the inside of the front cover. I decoupaged some rose cupcake liners for my background, K&CO Valentine's borders, mini paper roses, and one of my handmade stick pins. I added the same acrylic paints to add some distressing to it. I added an image I had in my stash of Marie. It's one of my favorites.

The inside of the box is lined with pink soft felt and edged with a beautiful rose trim. I also lined the box with more vintage lace I had in my stash. I enclosed some yummy goodies in it.

A LITTLE HELLO KITTY IN MY DAY~

Hello Friends!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!! As for me I had a lovely day spending time crafting & watching a few holiday programs on tv. In the evening Hubs and I headed over to my Sis's house to visit and deliver presents for the kidlings.

Here are some goodies I picked up the other day while shopping at Michaels:

My last day at my job is on Friday so I am taking a little break before I go back to the job market. :) I'm looking forward to having some time to work on my crafts and start up my etsy shop again. Stay tune for details on my etsy shop. Thank you.

MERRY CHRISTMAS~

Here is a Christmas Chunky ATC I created for Swing Shift Designs. I used various Vintage Christmas images from the Winter Wonderland & Christmas Angels collage sheets. There are soooo many wonderful images on these sheets to choose from. I think they are all so beautiful.

I used a Prima flower, lace trim, strand of pearls, gold wired ribbon trim, & one of my handmade beaded stick pin.

I decorated the top of the Chunky ATC with Wild Orchid Crafts mulberry paper roses, shimmery red ribbon (I had in my stash), and accented the large white rose with crystal stickles.

I added clear rhinestones, distressed the edges of the image and also stained the wood with Tim Holtz's Red Barn distressing ink.

I used a Wild Orchid Crafts paper poinsettia flower and background paper is from Recollection's Bright and Jolly paper pad. It's been my favorite paper pad all season long.

A FAIRY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU~

Hello Friends!!!

I am enjoying this quiet Christmas Eve at home. No hustling and bustling along with the rest of the crowd that are shopping. Instead I decided to relax at home and do a little more crafting. Later on this evening I will be wrapping the Christmas gifts I have for my kidlings (my nieces & nephews).

Here is a card I created today for Addicted to Stamps:

I created this card using Mitzi Sato-Wiuff 's Christmas Fairy digi image. I LOVE LOVE the way this card turned out. I used copics to color (B00, B05, B41, BV31, C1, C3, E33, E37, G00, G05,R20, R29, V04, V09, W5, Y17, YR17) and Lumiere Neoprene paints (Pearlescent Magenta, Pearl White, Pearl Blue, Met. Russet, Sunset Gold). I used various papers I found in my stash (Heidi Grace & DCWV), rhinestones, & Darice's 3D snowflake stickers, and a piece of vintage white lace.

IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR...

Hello Friends!!!

Can you believe it? Christmas is only 3 days away. Are you ready? I'm still trying to get my cards finished but I must say they won't be getting to my friends in time for Christmas. *SIGH* It will be more of a belated Christmas & Happy Winter instead. I hope they won't mind.

Here are a few greeting cards that I created this week for Addicted to Stamps.

This card I used the Snow Flake digi image by Sherri Baldy. I love her images. They are so much fun to color. I used copic markers to color, American Craft's Dear Lizzy paper, Wild Orchid Crafts mulberry paper roses, one of my handmade beaded stick pins, Merry Christmas ribbon, and a white beaded trim.

This card I used the Christmas 28 digi image by Morgan Fitzsimons. This is the first very detailed image I've colored. I enjoyed selecting various colors to create it. I love bunnies and snail mail so when I found this image I just had to get it. I used copic markers to color, Recollection's Bright & Jolly design paper, snowflake ribbon, Wild Orchid Crafts mulberry paper rose & pearl trim.

This card I used the Lil Sweetie My Kitty digi image by Sherri Baldy. I colored the image with copic markers, Recollection's Bright & Jolly design paper, embellished with lace trim, pearl trim, and Wild Orchid Crafts poinsettia paper flowers.

Here is a Christmas card I created using Lil Sweetie Joy Angel digi image by Sherri Baldy. I used music notes paper from a vintage song book, copic markers to color, Tim Holtz distressing ink in tea dye/walnut stain, Tsukineko Brilliant ink in metallic beige, ribbons & gold rick rack trim I had in my stash, pink and beige paper roses, and a beaded stick pin I received in a swap. I added the sentiment from the "Angels we have heard on high" song lyrics. I thought it was perfect!

Hello Friends!!!

I have been crafting a lot recently and focusing on my Christmas cards. WOOT!!! It's seems that December just got here way too fast. I can hardly believe it, that soon we'll be welcoming the New Year 2012. I can definitely say I'm looking forward to a new year. It'll be a better year *crossing fingers* LOL!!!

Here are two cards I created this week for Addicted to Stamps DT.

I used the Snow Babie digi image by Sherri Baldy.

I embellished this card using a red floral like design from the Recollection's Bright & Jolly paper pad, a shimmery wired ribbon, pink grosgrain bow, a ribbon flower, and colored the image with copic markers. I will have to look up the colors I used. I also distressed the edges using Tim Holtz distressing red barn ink.

I used the Blossom Hippie Chick Christmas digi image
by Heather Valentin.

I embellished this card using a pretty snowflake design from the Recollection's Bright & Jolly paper pad, Prima flowers, Tsukineko Pearlescent Sky Blue dew drop ink for distressing, Studio G's let it snow stamp, Studio G glitter glue, and colored the image with copic markers. I love all the glitter on this card. :) It's so pretty.

This is a matchbox easel card I created using Winter Skates Party digi image by Sherri Baldy. I used design paper from the Recollection's Bright and Jolly paper pad and two large size matchboxes. I used copic markers to color the image (E00, E13, E15, B04, B21, B41, Y13, Y19, and RV29).

The embellishments I used are:

Hello Friends!!!

I hope all of you had a very wonderful Thanksgiving. I spent Thanksgiving with some of my Family. It was a very relaxing and awesome Thanksgiving day for me. We had lots of yummy food and desserts. My personal favorite this year was the delicious homemade Sweet Potato pie. I wish I had a piece right now. LOL!!

I didn't go out for any Black Friday Shopping but I did go out today and picked up some scrappy goodness. Michael's had a great sale but sadly I missed out on getting the paper pads for $9.99 but managed to still get it for 40% off so not too bad.

I am in love with the new Recollection designer papers. I picked up these two paper pads for $11.99 each. I absolutely adore the
Le Ballet papers a lot as they remind me of the Nutcracker.

I finally jumped on the SMASH book bandwagon and picked up this lovely Pink SMASH book. I got to use a 50% coupon on it. WOO HOO!!! I'm soooo thrilled to have my very first authentic K&CO SMASH book. The designer papers are soooo pretty.

Just stopping in to say Hello!!! I've been sick the past 3 days. *SIGH* I just returned to work today. I'm feeling much better but still have a cough and my voice sounds horrible. It doesn't help when my job is to take calls all day. LOL!!! I'm drinking lots of water and hot tea so I can get rid of this cold.

On Friday I had the day off so I went to the salon to get my hair done. Here is a pic of my new do. I really love it. What do you think?

I also got a little pampering by getting an hour body massage. It was sooooo relaxing. I can't wait to go again.

Since I've been sick I didn't get around to doing a lot of crafting except I did make a few tags on Saturday when I met up with my friends. I will post those later.

On Sunday afternoon I met up with my dear friend Iris. We went to the Nail salon to get a mani-pedi and did some shopping too. We were on the hunt for some deals on craft supplies (scrapbook paper pads, stamps, embellishments, & such). I heard that Marshall's carry scrapbook goodies at 40%-50% off so we had to take a gander. Instead of scrapbook goodies because it was already well picked over I found a bunch of beautiful elegant notecards with matching envelopes by The Gifted Line. I felt like I hit the jackpot because one can never have too many stationery. LOL!!! This is what I purchased:

Each notecard set come with these detailed printed envelopes & a gorgeous decorative keepsake box. These pics don't do justice as it doesn't show all the gorgeous foil detail each notecard entails.

I brought these with me today so I can start working on some letters. I also decided to go back to pick up a few more designs for a gift. I just couldn't help myself. LOL!!! They are just too beautiful not to share.

This is a card I created for Addicted to Stamps. I used the Gothic Bride digi image by Heather Valentin which can be found HERE.

I used copics to color the image, vintage purple lace, black ribbon, a strand of pearls I dyed with Tim Holtz's Adirondack alcohol ink in the color of slate. I added some roses by iamroses (large roses) & Wild Orchid Crafts (small green roses). I distress the card using Tim Holtz's Dusty Concord. The background paper I purchased at Michaels is from the Recollection brand. I really love the way she turned out and had a lot of fun creating this card.

Hello Friends!!!

I'm SUPER DUPER excited to share with you my very first design team project for Addicted to Stamps. I used the lovely Glitterella The Good Witch by Sherri Baldy. She is super adorable.

I used copic markers to color her, added stickles, various embellishments & trims I had in my stash from last year. The paper roses & orange pompom trim, burgundy velvet trim, and bling I adhered to the side of the jar are from Recollections. I used gold wire ribbon I found at my $1 store. I love the gold glitter on it. It's sooo sparkly. :)

YPP UPCYCLE LUNCH BAG~

Hello Friends!!!!

I joined the Your Paper Pantry Upcycle Lunch bag swap for October. It's a Thanksgiving theme. After watching a few videos on Youtube I was inspired to join YPP and sign up for the upcycle lunch bag swap.

Here is my creation:

I used a Vintage Thanksgiving image, burlap fabric, Tim Holtz distressing inks (tea dye, walnut stain, & orange marmalade), organza ribbon trim, leaves rubber stamp, Recollection's rhinestone brad, and my handmade fabric & lace flowers.

I used this Fall leaves paper from the DCWV Autumn mat stack from last year and a sheet of this lovely apricot color cardstock. I found a gratitude quote and printed it out and adhere it to the bag. The quote reads~ Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. ~William Arthur Ward

I used a foam pumpkin die cut I had in my stash and printed "Happy Autumn," and my info is printed on the back.

Here is a close up my handmade fabric and lace flower. I added the Recollection's orange color rhinestone to the center. I found this beautiful tapestry fabric at my local flea market and thought it would be perfect for creating flowers. I'm so glad I didn't pass it up.

I participated in another mail art swap last month on swap-bot. This is the envelope I decorated for my partner. She likes the color green so I tried to stick to this color scheme but I also incorporated a few other colors. I love the butterfly girl and the vintage paper doll image I used. I just had to include them in my mail art. They are sooo adorable.

I enjoyed putting this swap together for her. I used various digital images for collaging & also some scrapbook papers in my stash. I enclosed a package of various images & journal labels. I hope she likes my swap.

VINTAGE POSTCARDS~

I will be posting a collection of the Vintage postcards I picked up from the Vintage Paper Faire & the Antique Faire I attended within the past month or so.

Here are some lovely Asian postcards. I especially love the postcard with the 3 girls (the damaged card) wearing the colorful kimonos. They are sooo pretty.

The other set of postcards I found are these awesome Vintage Hawaiian postcards. As most of you know I am a native Hawaiian gal and I couldn't pass these beauties up. It really made me smile when I found them as they bring fond memories of my childhood growing up in Hawaii. Especially the Sea Life Park postcard. As a kid we used to take a lot of field trips to Sea Life Park. It was a great place to visit. I'm not sure what it's like now or if the park still exist. I will probably hoard these postcards. I don't know if I'll ever find some like these again. LOL!

Hello Friends!!!

Happy Fall to all of you!!!! Gee... I really can't believe that Fall is upon us already. My has the time flown by. I love Fall though as it is my favorite time of the year. The smell of the crisp air, the bright autumn colors, with a bit of Indian Summer. It's nice to have cooler nights and not so hot days.

I have been trying my best to get caught up with various things I have written down on my to do list. I'm slowly getting back on top of everything I intend to do. I made 2 YT vids which you can take a peek at if you like HERE. I have done quite a bit of shopping over summer so I have more vids to upload. I hope to get more posted soon.

Happy Friday Friends!!!

I'm sooooo glad Friday is already here. It's been a rough week for me so I'm looking forward to the weekend.

On Sunday I will be visiting the 48th Annual Niles Antique Fair & Flea Market. I'm excited to go as my Sister invited me to attend the event with her. I heard it's going to be SUPER pack with people. It opens at 6am. WHOA!!! It'll be interesting to see what treasures I can find. I'm specifically looking for ephemera. I especially LOVE vintage greeting cards, postcards, pamphlets, tickets, and old letters.

I have a stack of vintage postcards & greeting cards I picked up when I attended the Vintage Paper Faire a few months ago but forgot to post pics. I'll do another post when I get home. Stay tune for update.

On another note, I was looking through my flickr album and found some pics of my Sanrio "Hello Kitty & Friends" pen collection. I have been collecting pens for 12+ years. There are soooo many neat pens that I can't bear to use them. At least the ones I consider to be rare. LOL! Here's a pic of some of my pens~

Hello Friends!!!

How are all of you doing? I hope all is well. The other day I was thinking about something to make with the burlap fabric I bought while thrifting a while back. I created this burlap bag for one of my Youtube friends (Shhh... it's a secret). She likes Hello Kitty so I thought it would be fun to add an image of her. I used collage pauge to apply the image which works perfectly. I added lace trims, pink grosgrain ribbon bows, & some mini paper roses. Here's a pic of what I created.

I want to share with all of you the deco den container I created for my friend Katherine. It was her last day at work today so I wanted to give her a gift. Katherine's favorite color is purple. I used 3" x 5" size plastic container and various cabochons and other embellishments I have in my stash. I also added lots of sparkling glitter.

I have been on a deco den craze right now. These are super fun to create. I love working with the little cabochons/charms, glitter, bling, lace trims, etc. You can alter just about anything by adding some deco den to it. Here are some pics of my latest project. How are all of you? I hope all is well. It looks like the rain finally subsided (at least for now). LOL!! I spent Saturday crafting with my meetup group Crafter's Retreat. It was a perfect day to craft since it poured rain all day.

Happy Friday Friends!!!

I'm soooo glad the work week is coming to a close. It's been a busy week for me and I'm definitely looking forward to the weekend. I'm attending the Vintage Paper Fair tomorrow. This event is being held in San Francisco. I found out about it from LWA'S blog. I'm super excited to attend as I am already dreaming of all the luxurious vintage papers I'll find. :)

Hello Friends!!!

Today I would like to share with you my Hello Kitty tags I created for the Hello Kitty Tag swap hosted by Alee' aka Jentaleigh via YouTube. I created 4 tags and had a fabulous time making them. It was a lot of fun. I used various embellishments~ silk flowers, rhinestones, distressing ink, fabric, organza trims, fibers, etc.

I hope the gals who will be receiving my tag will enjoy them.

I also created an altered journal notebook for Alee'. I used the journal notebooks you can find at Michael's in the $1 section. I decoupaged the front & back covers using the rose cupcake liners and added flowers & Hello Kitty images I cut out from some memo sheets.

I received this lovely decorated 6" x 9" size envelope from my friend Norma. I love all the bright colors she used in this wonderful piece of art. She enclosed a bunch of goodies for me to use in creating mail art as well. Thank you SOOOO much Norma for doing this swap with me. Once Upon A Springtime~Altered Recipe Box

This is a $5.00 & under gift I made sometime in April for the Shoebox Party my friend Michele hosted. I didn't get around to posting the pics until now. *SIGH* I guess it's never to late to share a project I created. LOL!! I used a recipe box I picked up at Michael's for .50 on clearance so I thought it would be fun to alter it. This is what I came up with. I used the Graphic45 Once Upon a Springtime collection and embellished it with lots of trim & distressed inks. I also painted the inside of the box a pink-peachy color. I really love the way it turned out. Michele ended up selecting my gift and absolutely LOVED it. I added a bunch of embellishments & trims inside. The flowers & stick pins are handmade by me.

Just wanted to share with all of you another fun project I did. This is for a swap I participated in via PennywiseArts on Yahoogroups. I used various collage sheets I received from my friend Michele. She designs various collage sheets and is just totally awesome!!! You can purchase her lovely collage sheets currently on PennywiseArts. However, she will be having her website available soon. Stay tuned. I used silk flowers, microbeads, and other various embellishments creating this. I was thrilled to learn that my partner absolutely loved it. :) I can't wait to do another one soon. I will be creating one for my friend Shirley.

Hello Friends!!!!

GOSH!!!! It's been quite awhile since I've posted here on my blog. Life has been hectic for me and I've neglected getting a chance to blog. *SIGH* I also haven't been on YouTube for sometime so I hope to get back on track with creating some videos for you. In the mean time, this is a short update of the mini album I created using my Bind-it-all. I used the K&Co. Jubilee paper collection for this. I am in love with this paper and bought a few of the items available in this collection.

Pink & Girly Mini Paper Bag Album~

Hello Friends!!!

This is a mini paper bag album I created for my niece MacKenzie's 9th Birthday. It was a total surprise as she's been wanting a paper bag mini album for sometime. I couldn't wait until she unwrapped the tissue paper and see her face light up. It was so rewarding to see her bright smile. She's a doll!!!!

I used various scrapbook papers from DCWV and various embellishment I created and a few other store bought embellies I had in my stash. I wanted to stick to a pink and somewhat girly theme. MacKenzie absolutely ♥LOVE♥ her album. I hope you all enjoy this album too.

Now onto 8 random facts about me. I hope you all enjoy it!!!

1) I have 4 sisters & 1 brother. I'm the middle child of 6. I love having a big Family and feel really blessed.

2) My blog name Kawaiislandgurl72 is inspired by my love of all things Kawaii (which mean cute in Japanese), islandgurl- because I'm originally from Hawaii, 72 my birth year.

3) Like Alee', I too have a HUGE LOVE for Hello Kitty. Ever since I was a little girl I have always adored her. Although I'm not a cat lover. I prefer dogs.

4) I enjoy penpalling. I started penpalling at the age of 11. Oh!!! the joy of receiving a handwritten letter.

5) My name Puakalehua, which is also my Youtube channel's name is actually my middle name. I am named after my late Great-Grandmother. She was my Mother's Grandmother who I adored tremendously. My name means a lot to me as it has a wondeful story behind it aside from being my grandma's name. You can read more about my name HERE

6) My Ethnicity & Age: I'm Hawaiian, Filipino, Portuguese, Puerto Rican. I'm 38 yrs. old (but really a big kid at ♥)

7) I can never go to work without having my tote bag filled with a couple letter sets, envelopes, stickers, address book, my gazillion pens, etc. I have always been this way. Now since I am doing more crafting I take a some project with me. Infact, I use to get in trouble in grade school because I would play with my stuff in class and it would always disrupt the class because I made too much noise fumbling with stuff. HA-HA!!!

8) I'm fairly new to the scrapbooking community. Although I have always had a big love for papercrafts ever since I was a little girl. My first love is stationery. Especially Sanrio & other Japanese brand stationery.

Mariposa Matchbox Easel Card & Handmade Fabric Flowers~

I recently created a matchbox easel card for a very special lady on Youtube. Her name is Kraftykatsy. She's been very ill for sometime and after watching her videos I was inspired to create something special just for her. I will be enclosing some goodies in the drawers~ a few of my handmade flowers, stickpins & charms. I am still in the middle of creating handmade flowers and need to start on the stickpins next. ALTERED MATCHBOXES~

Yesterday I met up with a few of my girlfriends and we spent the day together. First we stopped over at Mainly Stamping in Fairfield to browse around. I ended up finding some lovely scrapbook papers & Japanese Washi paper. I picked up 2 sheets of the Le Romantique papers from Graphic45. They are absolutely perfect to create a mini for Valentine's day. I am in love with the beautiful washi papers I found as well. They are so lovely with all the floral blossoms. I'll need to find more washi papers as I find them really beautiful papers to craft with.

We also stopped over at Michaels, Joanns, Tuesday Mornings & Dollar Tree stores. While shopping at Michaels we found a bunch of Valentine's spool of ribbons for 50 cents. They were accidentally placed in the wrong spot. The manager ended up giving them to us for that price. I only picked up 1 spool as I bought some last week. I should have definitely picked up a few more. My friend Shirley benefited by getting a bunch.

We ended up having lunch at Subway before we headed back to Iris's house to craft. We made 2 projects and started on our third project (paper bag minis) which we didn't get to finish. I will work on getting it completed soon. We made altered matchboxes and a mini magnetic notepad.

Altered Art~ Christmas Puzzle Collage

Hello Everyone!!

Last night I got together with my three Dear Friends (Michele, Shirley, & Iris). We created this awesome altered art Christmas puzzle collage. We first started with a blank chipboard puzzle and then embellished with various collage sheets designed by Michele from Swing Shift Designs. She creates beautiful vintage collage design sheets. You can find them HERE. We decorated our own puzzles and then at the end we exchanged 3 pieces each from our own puzzle. This is the finish product of our altered art project. I hope you enjoy me sharing this with you. We had a wonderful time sharing with each other and crafting the night away. :)

I adhere the puzzle pieces to medium weight chipboard and then embellished it with some vintage lace I had in my stash. As well as adding one of my handmade organza flowers & some stick pins (2 of them are from a swap & 1 is handmade by me).

Christmas Cards & Tags

Hello Everyone!!!

The Christmas Season is upon us and I started working on my Christmas greetings this year. I have until Friday, December 10th to get some of my cards out for a few of my oversea friends and the others will be mailed shortly after.

I used various embellishments, handmade organza flowers, gift tags I purchased at Michaels, Christmas buttons, etc.

I also made a few stamped image cards and colored the images with Copic Sketch Markers. I'm still learning how to use these markers to their full capability. I used clear stamps from Stampavie. I really love them as they are so whimsical. I hope you enjoy them too.

Last but not least a layout page I created for my Mom. I used the Heartwarming Vintage Creative Scraps by Crafty Secrets. My Mom loves Angels so I thought this would be perfect instead of a greeting card. I can't wait to give it to her.

I LOVE MAIL~

Aside from crafting one of my guilty pleasures is receiving and sending mail. I call it "cute mail," as I usually decorate my letters & packages before sending them out. I have always loved getting mail and started penpalling at the age of 11 yrs. old. Now 20+ years later I am still enjoying the art of letter writing. I'm currently on a waiting list for a PO Box so I can easily exchange letters & packages (aside from my home addy).

I feel that the art of letter writing is slowly being extinct due to the internet. However, I seriously hope that people will continue to appreciate a simple card or letter rather than a digital card sent by email. I must have a TON of packages/letters that I've kept over the years that unfortunately I had to purge those from my childhood. *SIGH* I seriously wish I never got rid of them now. They all held sentimental value to me. Although I may not be able to hold a letter from a past friend I still have very fond thoughts of each and every one of them.

Anyway here is my latest outgoing mail & packages I'm currently working on:

Autumn Altered Composition Notebook~

This is a composition notebook that I altered. I was inspired to create this by my YouTube friend Scrappinology. It was a lot of fun coming up with a theme for this. I wanted to do an Autumn theme as I'm totally in love with this time of the year. The cool crisp days of Autumn... while the leaves are turning these vibrant colors of gold, browns, orange & yellow. Although it's still very warm here in my part of the country. I'm still enjoying the last bit of Indian Summer weather we are having.

I will be using this as an example for the Scrapbook & Craft Retreat this upcoming weekend October 15th-17th.
